Bhari mehfil mein muskurana seekh liya..
Hum to darte the ghamon ka zeher peene se..
Par ab to ghamon ko jaam samajhkar peena seekh liya..
Pehle to akele se hote the hum bheed mein..
Par ab to tanhayee mein bhi rehna seekh liya..
Log muskura kar de jate the hame dhoka..
Par ab to humne aankhon ko padhna seekh liya..
Koi sunta hi na tha hamare dil ki aawaz ko..
To humne us aawaz ko shayari mein badalna seekh liya.

Gulshan me khuda ne hazaro phool khilaye hai,
Tab jaake hawa ke zonke mahek paaye hai,
Tute hai na Jaane kitne khoobsoorat sitare,
Tab jaake aap Zameen par AAye hai...
Hasin palko ko phir se aabaad kar rahe the,
Chaand se aapki baate kar rahe the,
Dil ko bada sukun mila ye jaankar ki,
Aap bhi hame hi yaad kar rahe the......

सामने बैठा था मेरे और वो मेरा न था।
वो कि ख़ुशबू की तरह फैला था मेरे चार सू
मैं उसे महसूस कर सकता था छू सकता न था।
रात भर पिछली ही आहट कान में आती रही
झाँक कर देखा गली में कोई भी आया न था।
ख़ुद चढ़ा रखे थे तन पर अजनबीयत के गिलाफ़
वर्ना कब एक दूसरे को हमने पहचाना न था।
याद कर के और भी तकलीफ़ होती थी’अदीम’
भूल जाने के सिवा अब कोई भी चारा न था।

Qais tasweer ke parday mein bhi uryaan nikla
Zakham ne dad na di tangi e dil ki ya rab!
Teer bhi seena e bismil se pur afshan nikla
Bou e gul, nala e dil, dood e chiragh e mahfil
Jo teri bazm se nikla so pareshaan nikla
Dil e hasratzada tha ma'adai lazzat e dared
Kaam yaron ka ba qadr-e-lab-o-dandaan nikla
Aye nau amooz e fana, himmat e dushwar pasand
Sakht mushkil hai ke ye kaam bhi asaan nikla
Dil mein phir girye ne ek shuar uthaya Ghalib
